To keep its default search engine, Google is reported to have paid Apple $18 billion in 2021

CTOnews.com October 27 news, according to the New York Times reported that from two people familiar with the matter, Google has been worried about Apple's involvement in the search engine field, or switch to other manufacturers of services, this concern has increased year by year, so in 2021 to Apple paid 18 billion US dollars (CTOnews.com Note: Currently about 131.76 billion yuan).

CTOnews.com previously quoted The Information as reporting that Google had blocked Apple from developing search-related features through an agreement, according to disclosed court documents, while The New York Times brought more details.

The New York Times reviewed some internal Google documents and said that although Google and Apple had been working together for many years, Apple's search tool Spotlight began to show users richer web results in 2021, and the content presented was basically the same as Google's search results.

Google is clearly feeling the pressure, increasing the amount of transactions in 2021 and looking for ways to convince iPhone users to use Chrome as much as possible.

Google, meanwhile, studied how to pry Apple's grip on the iPhone using a new European law designed to help small companies compete with big tech companies. Google's anti-Apple plan demonstrates the importance its executives attach to maintaining dominance in the search business.
