Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Alejandro86 for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, October 27 (Xinhua) Citigroup plans to provide generative AI access to most of its 40,000 programmers, with the aim of improving employee productivity and maintaining a leading position in the growing technology-driven banking industry, Bloomberg reported.

CTOnews.com noted that Citigroup had previously allowed 250 selected developers to try spanning AI as part of the pilot program. Encouraged by positive results, the bank plans to extend the program to most of its development teams by 2024.

In order to further explore the possibility of AI, Citigroup has set up two special working groups. These working groups will delve into the various applications of AI, from day-to-day tasks to complex projects.

In addition, Citigroup is trying to update its system with AI, a process that usually requires a lot of financial and human resources. Citi's goal is to transition from outdated coding languages such as Cobol to more modern coding languages such as Java. Using AI can simplify the translation process and make it more efficient and cost-effective.

It is worth mentioning that Citigroup is partnering with Diffblue, a start-up from AI Labs at the University of Oxford. Diffblue has developed a code automation tool that is used by well-known organizations such as JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Amazon Web Services and Cisco.
