Switch Fold? Nintendo's new patent shows a detachable double-screen folding device, which looks like a discontinued handset 3DS

CTOnews.com, October 29 (Xinhua)-- Nintendo has applied for a patent for a removable dual-screen folding device, Gamerant reported on Saturday.

The picture shows that the potential new game console is similar in structure to Nintendo's discontinued handset 3DS, with two parts that can be opened and closed. It is worth mentioning that the two parts can also be split into two separate handheld devices and can communicate with each other wirelessly, allowing two players to use the device to play together.

After the two parts are integrated, players can use handheld devices such as the 3DS to control the device. In addition, the upper part of the device also has two internal and external screens, which are expected to make it easy for players to operate some of the games in the form of touch.

Structurally, the inner screen of the upper half of the device is significantly larger than that of the lower half, with a rocker in the lower half. It is important to note, however, that not all Nintendo patents will be converted into physical products.

CTOnews.com Note: the Nintendo 3DS, a portable game console launched by Nintendo from 2011 to 2020, is the successor to the Nintendo DS, featuring the introduction of parallax barrier technology to achieve an effect similar to naked-eye 3D. The machine announced the withdrawal and suspension of production in 2020, and more than 75 million units were sold worldwide. Nintendo also announced that online games and other online communication features of the 3DS and another handheld device, the Wii U, will be terminated from early April 2024, which will affect first-party games and third-party software (with some exceptions).
