CTOnews.com, October 30, Linus Torvalds today announced the official launch of Linux Kernel 6.6, mainly introducing several new features and driver updates.

In the 6.6 release update announcement, Linus Torvalds said:

The past week has been very quiet and I have no excuse to postpone the release of version 6.6, so it's time to release it.

Except for some major fixes to the r8152 driver, all are minor fixes.

CTOnews.com found that Linux Kernel 6.6 mainly introduced the EEVDF scheduler, implemented Shadow Stack support, added the user space API required by the Mesa NVK Vulkan driver for the Nouveau DRM driver, and continued to support the upcoming Intel and AMD platforms.

In addition, Linux Kernel 6.6 also supports changing the charger mode, fan and eGPU settings of Asustek devices, supporting more keyboard backlight control on Lenovo IdeaPad devices, and peripherals such as new Mellanox drivers.
