CTOnews.com, November 2 (Xinhua)-- Global semiconductor sales in September 2023 were 1.9% higher than in August 2023, down 4.5% from September 2022, according to data released Wednesday by the American Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) local time.

On a quarterly basis, global semiconductor sales totaled $134.7 billion in the third quarter of 2023 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 986.004 billion yuan), up 6.3 per cent from the second quarter of 2023 and 4.5 per cent lower than the third quarter of 2022.

"Global semiconductor sales recorded seven consecutive months of month-on-month growth in September, which consolidated the positive momentum in the chip market in the middle of this year," said John Neuffer, CEO and president of the American Semiconductor Industry Association. "the long-term outlook for semiconductor demand remains strong, and chips will support countless products on which the world depends and will give rise to transformative new technologies in the future."

Regionally, monthly sales in all other parts of the Asia-Pacific region (3.4%), Europe (3.0%) and the Americas (2.4%) increased, with an increase of 0.5% in China, but a slight decline of 0.2% in Japan. Compared with the same period last year, sales in Europe increased by 6.7%, while sales declined in the Americas (- 2.0%), Japan (- 3.6%), all other regions of the Asia-Pacific region (- 5.6%) and China (- 9.4%).
