CTOnews.com, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) Mercedes-AMG is developing its first high-end electric sports car. The model, which will be launched in 2025, will be the first AMG model equipped with the company's AMG.EA platform.

As an electric iterative model of the GT 634 coupe with V8 engine, the new model will be designed to meet the standards of performance cars from the very beginning.

As a dedicated sports electric vehicle architecture, the core of the AMG.EA platform comes from the motor technology of the British company Yas. (CTOnews.com Note: the company was acquired by Mercedes in 2021).

Tim Woolmer, Yas's boss, confirmed to Autocar that its motor weighs only 24kg and can generate 590lb-ft of torque and 480hp. If a dual-motor power system is adopted, it can bring nearly 1000 horsepower and 1000 lb-ft of power.

In addition, AMG's competitors BMW and Audi also have next-generation electric platforms with more than 1300 horsepower, but they have not yet given data on the next generation of new cars, such as the next-generation M3 and RS6 E-tron.
