CTOnews.com, November 2 (Xinhua)-- the second phase of the demonstration project of the three Gorges Energy Qingyun Energy Storage Power Station in Shandong Province, the largest grid-side shared energy storage power station in the country, was fully put into commercial operation on October 31, according to officials of the three Gorges Group.

According to reports, the energy storage power station, located in Qingyun County, Dezhou City, Shandong Province, is one of the first energy storage demonstration projects in Shandong Province, with a total scale of 301 megawatts / 602 megawatt hours, and the energy that can be stored is equivalent to the one-hour generating capacity of 600,000 kilowatt power plants.

CTOnews.com inquiry found that the first phase of Qingyun energy storage power station construction 100MW / 200MW energy storage system was put into operation at the end of 2021, and the second phase of the project has a construction capacity of 201MW / 402MW.

Officials pointed out that after reaching production, the power station can consume about 180 million kilowatt-hours of new energy per year, equivalent to saving about 70,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 180000 tons, effectively improving the comprehensive utilization of new energy resources and the level of safe and stable operation of the power grid.
