HTC VIVE VR head will be sent to the International Space Station to test to relieve the mental stress of astronauts.

CTOnews.com, November 3 (Xinhua)-- HTC VIVE officially announced today that an adjusted microgravity-friendly VIVE Focus 3 VR all-in-one will be sent to the International Space Station during the planned NASA replenishment launch on November 7.

Once there, Danish astronaut Andreas Morrison will test the feasibility of VIVE Focus 3 in relieving mental stress. These mental pressures come from the "lack of privacy, high-frequency and changeable workload and separation from loved ones" inherent in space work.

HTC partnered with XRHealth's virtual reality therapy company Nord-Space ApS, an aviation research and development company, to launch a "virtual assisted psychological balance program" in an attempt to meet the unique needs of astronauts.

CTOnews.com inquiry learned that HTC launched VIVE Focus 3 in July 2021, with a price tag of 10688 yuan on the official website, with a relatively high-end positioning, mainly for enterprise users.

In September 2022, HTC announced the launch of VIVE Focus 3 "Eye tracking Suite" and "facial expression Detection Suite", greatly enhancing the reality of human-computer interaction in the virtual world.
