CTOnews.com AMD yesterday introduced the new R5 7545U and R3 7440U processors, introducing Zen 4c microarchitecture optimized for core density. R5 7545U is a 2 Zen4 core + 4 Zen4c core design, and its multicore performance at 10-15W is better than that of the original 6 Zen4 core R5 7540U.

AMD has also released detailed parameters for the R3 7440U, confirming that it is a 1 Zen4 core + 3 Zen4c core design.

In terms of parameters, R3 7440U positioning entry-level, 1 Zen4 core + 3 Zen4c core design, a total of 4 cores 8 threads, acceleration frequency 4.7GHz, 8MB L3 cache, CCD core area of 137mm².

AMD has not released performance data for the R3 7440U, only for the R5 7545U. As shown in the figure below, the R5 7545U of the 2-core Zen4 + 4-core Zen 4c has stronger multi-core performance at 10-15W power consumption than the R5 7540U of the 6-core Zen4.

As CTOnews.com previously reported, Zen 4c architecture is an optimized version of Zen 4 microarchitecture that debuted in AMD EPYC 9704 Bergamo and EPYC 8004 Siena data center processors. Zen 4c retains the functionality of Zen 4, including the same instruction set, IPC, and cache structure. Zen 4 has a core area of 3.84 mm2. In comparison, the Zen 4c core panel is only 2.48 square millimeters, a reduction of 35%.
