CTOnews.com news on November 6, after Red Hat (Red Hat) announced that it would no longer release the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) source code, Oracle, SUSE and CIQ, which also belong to the Linux field, announced the establishment of the Open Enterprise Linux Association (OpenELA) Association.

On its blog a few days ago, the openELA Association announced the official release of the "open and free" Enterprise Linux (EL) source code and set up a technical steering committee to encourage third parties to develop Linux versions compatible with RHEL.

CTOnews.com found that openELA said the project is committed to ensuring that EL source code is available indefinitely to the community, with an initial focus on the upcoming release of software packages for EL8 and EL9,EL7.

Wim Coekaerts, director of development at Oracle Linux, said: "when we founded OpenELA earlier this year, we made some promises to the open source developer community, and now we are making good on our promises, and we are very happy to reach these important milestones and look forward to seeing a series of ecology around OpenELA."
