According to reports, on the basis of the existing technology center of Dongfeng Company, the General Research and Development Institute has adjusted and set up seven centers, including the Science and Technology Planning Center, the Advanced Materials and Advanced Technology Research Center, the Software Engineering Research Center, and the Modeling Design Center. Tan Minqiang is appointed president of the General Institute of Research and Development.

The R & D Institute is responsible for the technical planning and R & D of passenger cars in the whole group. At the same time, directly responsible for the product development of Dongfeng passenger car Company and Mengshi Automotive Technology Company.

The styling center of the General R & D Institute has been built in Wuhan with a total investment of 520 million yuan and is expected to be put into use in 2025. Officials said that under the new framework, the comprehensive strength of the General Institute of Research and Development in styling design and software self-research will be enhanced.

In addition, Dongfeng announced that in the "three-year Action of Transformation and upgrading", it is expected to invest 50 billion yuan in the field of independent new energy and iteratively launch 18 new energy models for independent passenger cars.
