According to CTOnews.com news on November 6, Tesla has added a new setting for car owners to make it easier to control whether remote operation of the vehicle is allowed. Now Tesla car owners can choose to completely disable the remote startup function, so that car owners can easily prevent others from using remote commands when needed.

The new feature was discovered this week by a Model X owner whose car upgraded the 2023.27.7 version of the software. In the service menu, there is a switch option of "allow Tesla to start remotely" (Allow Tesla to Remote Start), which allows car owners to grant or cancel other people's rights to use functions such as remote startup, honking, flashing lights, and so on. When this feature is disabled, the remote startup feature is completely turned off.

CTOnews.com noticed that another user pointed out in the post that the service staff of Tesla service center no longer need the driver's key card to use the remote startup function. Instead, car owners can use the above Tesla's new features to grant access through mobile apps.

Earlier this year, Tesla also provided the ability to enable or disable its Sentinel mode, a feature that allows car owners to use the Tesla app to remotely check around the vehicle.
