Ubuntu Touch OTA-3 release: based on Ubuntu 20.04LTS, suitable for Xiaomi Yijia and other old models

CTOnews.com November 9 news, UBPorts team recently released an announcement, officially launched Ubuntu Touch OTA-3. The new update is based on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and adds support for more than 20 devices, including PinePhone, PinePhone Pro, PineTab and PineTab 2.

Ubuntu Touch is a mobile system for smartphones, originally developed and maintained by Canonical, but after the official announcement of abandonment in 2017, it was followed up by UBPorts independent development team.

UBPorts recently released OTA-3 has been initially adapted to Pine64 devices, but the team said the adaptation is still not perfect, there are some bugs.

OTA-3 is primarily based on other changes including support for disabling notifications and vibration for other apps, additional keyboard layout, updated system settings user interface and menu structure, initial support for Snap installation packages, and improved Android app operation using Waydroid.
