Extended for another 3 years, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 ESU support until October 2026

CTOnews.com, 11 / 11 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Microsoft announced that Extended Security Updates (ESU) for Windows Server 2012 will be extended to October 2026 to give administrators more time to upgrade or migrate to Azure.

The mainstream support cycle for Windows Server 2012 ended in October 2018, and CTOnews.com reported in January this year that Microsoft alerted enterprise users that extended support for all versions of Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 ended on October 10.

Microsoft said:

If you need more time to upgrade and modernize Windows Server 2012 Server 2012 R2 or Windows Embedded Server 2012 R2, you can get an additional 3 years of extended security update (ESU).

If you have migrated to Azure to protect your Windows Server 2012 and R2 workloads, you may be enjoying free extended security updates.

If your organization is unable to migrate and you do not need a key, you can purchase and seamlessly deploy Windows Server 2012 extended security updates enabled by Azure Arc in local and hosted environments directly from the Azure website.
