Sony released a patent for "fine archiving", which allows players to "time travel" to any point in the game.
CTOnews.com November 13 news, according to foreign media reports, Sony recently announced a patent for "refined archiving," allowing players to restart the game from any point in time.
Patent information shows that the game will save player data in real time and break down the game chapters into multiple parts. Players can "backtrack" to these trigger points interactively in the game, so as to achieve rapid loading in a few seconds, return the game to a specific moment, and inherit the equipment level before backtracking or call the equipment level once, as appropriate.
CTOnews.com found that compared to the general instant save mechanism, this new patent is more refined in the selection of time nodes, and allows seamless save loading, more suitable for BOSS battles or games with "time travel" mechanism, allowing players to save a certain amount of loading time and running time, and bringing more story branch options to the game.
However, it is not clear how finely this feature can be segmented, and related patents may also require faster SSDs to allow instant save loading.
