Screencap live streaming software OBS Studio 30.0 official release: supports WebRTC, shortens startup time

CTOnews.com reported on November 13 that OBS Studio, the mainstream open source screencap live streaming software, recently launched 30.0 official version, bringing a number of functional updates.

This version removes support for FFmpeg versions prior to Ubuntu 20.04, Qt 5, and 4.4, and brings WebRTC support.

The main updates of OBS Studio 30.0 official version are as follows:

Added WHIP / WebRTC output support. With the introduction of WHIP, FTL is expected to be removed in versions after May 2024.

Redesigned the status bar. The redesigned status bar now provides the same information in a more organized and well-structured manner, with more representative and recognizable icons.

Added support for Intel QSV H264, HEVC, AV1 on Linux.

Shader cache has been added to shorten the startup time of OBS on Windows.

Application audio capture has been added to macOS.

Added "safe mode" to run OBS without third-party plug-ins, scripts, and websockets. When OBS detects that it is not shutting down correctly, it provides the user with the option to start in safe mode for troubleshooting. You can also activate it manually from the help menu.

The virtual camera on macOS has been redesigned to work with all applications (on macOS 13 and later).

The YouTube live control room panel was added when streaming to YouTube.
