The British man bought the iPhone 15 Pro Max from Apple's official website, but received an Android knockoff phone.

The man is Ed, from Surrey, England, and his nickname on Reddit is theEdmard. He claims that he ordered iPhone on Apple's official website and has regular logistics tracking and confirmation emails from Apple and DPD express.

But when he received the package, he found something wrong, although the phone looked like the titanium iPhone 15 Pro Max he ordered, the memory was 256GB, and the package looked normal. But on closer inspection, he found that it was actually an Android phone running an UI that mimics Apple's iOS user interface.

There are a lot of details that reveal that this is not the phone he ordered: the phone has a screen saver (Apple's iPhone never comes with a protective film), a distinct "chin" at the bottom of the screen (Apple's iPhone has uniform borders in recent years), and apps such as Facebook, YouTube and TikTok are pre-installed, and Apple never does so.

Ed, chief operating officer of cloud software provider AtWrk, said he contacted Apple to find out exactly what happened, but had not received a reply from them.

Foreign media Mashable contacted Ed and said he was sure he bought the phone directly from Apple's website because his order number was consistent with that in Apple's database and the order confirmation page he received appeared to be real. Ed also said Apple has been "very cooperative" so far, although the problem has not been solved.

CTOnews.com noted that Ed may not be the only victim of the scam, and recently some netizens on TikTok reported a similar thing, using an Android phone to pass off as an Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max ordered through regular channels.
