Apple MacBook Pro exposed the "dust door", causing a purple vertical line on the screen

CTOnews.com, November 15, according to the latest report from Forbes, there is a "dust door" incident in several Apple MacBook Pro, which causes the screen to appear purple vertical line when it opens and closes to a certain angle.

"this is a common problem and we get several every week," said Stephan Steins of NotebookNerds, a maintenance shop.

When the MacBook Pro lid is opened at an angle, the problem causes a purple vertical line on the screen, which has occurred on several MacBook models.

The problem appears to come from the flexible screen cable that connects the monitor to the main body of the laptop. There is a gap in the hinge point between the screen and the keyboard, which can accumulate dust and dirt. The debris then enters the cable and damages the cable over time by opening and closing the lid.

The above is a picture of the repair: the left shows the damaged flexible cable, while the right shows the location of the dust accumulation that caused the failure. Ricky Panesar, founder of maintenance expert iCorrect, told me that the problem affected the A1989, A2251, A2289, A2338 and A2141 models, the latter of which was the most affected. The video attached to CTOnews.com is as follows:

The models were released between 2018 and 2020, but Panesar said MacBook Pro models sold between 2016 and 2020 had a similar design and could be vulnerable to the failure.
