CTOnews.com, Nov. 15 (Reuters)-GM Cruise said today that Cruise's self-driving car business will be completely suspended due to previous accidents involving self-driving vehicles, including supervised driving with safety guards, to cooperate with the relevant departments' investigation.

Cruise will conduct comprehensive safety checks and continue to train self-driving vehicles in a closed environment to ensure an "active simulated driving program" to maintain the momentum of focusing on self-driving technology.

CTOnews.com also learned from Reuters that Exponent, an independent engineering company previously hired to conduct a technical root cause analysis of the October 2 accident, and relevant departments would expand their investigation, including a "comprehensive review" of Cruise safety systems and technologies.

In addition, Cruise will hire an external security expert to review the company's safety operation culture. The company had previously said it would hire a permanent chief security officer.
