The new call working group was set up to promote the development of 5G news in conjunction with China Mobile, China Unicom, Telecom, Radio and Television.

On November 15, at the 20th Annual Meeting of Value-added Telecommunications and Virtual Operations-5G Message Innovation Forum, China Communications Enterprise Association and China Information and Communication Research Institute formally established the "New Call Working Group."
According to introduction, as an upgrade of the basic call service of the operator, the new call provides users with intelligent and interactive real-time communication services deeply integrated with multimedia calls and data applications, which can meet the communication needs of different user groups under diversified scenarios and revitalize the traditional call service.
At the meeting, Fu Guoqiang, senior engineer of Institute of Technology and Standards of China Academy of Information and Communication and deputy head of 5G Message Working Group, introduced the preparations and recent work of the new call working group. It is understood that the new call working group has received positive responses from more than 30 of the first batch of initiating member units since its preparation in September 2023.
Fu Guoqiang said that the current new call industry standards continue to advance, 3GPP, GSMA have begun to formulate relevant industry standards, but for the industry, new call innovation market still needs to be cultivated, industry collaboration still needs to be strengthened, business model still needs to be explored, terminal support still needs to be promoted.
CTOnews.com notes that the new call working group will learn from the successful experience of the 5G message working group, jointly promote the demonstration work of the large-scale development of 5G message cities with China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Radio and Television, continuously promote the innovative development of new communication services, solve the difficulties plaguing new call-related enterprises, build an industrial chain exchange platform, and jointly explore the application value of new call services.
In the next stage, the new call working group will hold a special seminar on terminal new call ecology, carry out a new call ecological partner cultivation plan, conduct research on new call industry application schemes, strive to introduce new call application scenarios and expand capabilities to industry users within two years, drive industry users to utilize new call technology ideas to enable the development of the industry, form a batch of industry application cases with practical significance, and promote new calls to achieve high-quality development.
