CTOnews.com, November 18 (Xinhua)-- MediaTek held a summit forum in the United States on Friday and announced a partnership with Meta to develop the Meta x Ray Peng smart glasses chip, with the goal of replacing Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip.

Meta last month unveiled a new generation of Meta x Ray Peng smart glasses with Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip, starting at $299 (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 2186 yuan).

The new Ray Bon x Meta smart glasses look very much like sunglasses, with a 1200 megapixel camera on the right that can take pictures and record 1080p video, and a LED light on the left to remind others that a video is being recorded.

The original Ray-Ban Storie smart glasses are equipped with 5 megapixels and can shoot up to 2592 x 1984 pixels, while the new glasses can shoot 3024 x 4032 pixels.

MediaTek has been committed to developing SoC with low power consumption and high performance for a long time. The focus of the cooperation with Meta is to create a custom chip specially designed for AR smart glasses to meet the requirements of lightweight and compact devices, and the cooperative product Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses is expected to be launched in the future.
