CTOnews.com, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong has visited Europe for the first time since the end of a 2015 merger trial. The purpose of this visit is not only to establish important business relations, but also to win support for South Korea's bid to host the 2030 Busan World Expo. Lee Jae-yong reportedly left for London on Sunday.

Mr Lee will examine the performance and market conditions in Europe of his digital experience unit (DX), which is responsible for Samsung's electronics business in Europe. As the world's largest chipmaker, Samsung leads the smartphone and TV markets in Europe. Next, Mr Lee is expected to attend a Korean-British business forum on Wednesday to strengthen South Korea and Samsung's local business network, which he will attend as part of a South Korean delegation.

Lee Jae-yong will travel to Paris on Thursday to support Busan, South Korea's bid to host the 2030 World Expo. It is worth noting that South Korea is competing with Saudi Arabia, Italy and other countries for this international event. On November 28, members of the Bureau of International exhibitions (BIE) will vote on the winner.

CTOnews.com noted that Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong has recently been traveling around the world, leading South Korean government and business leaders to bid for the World Expo. He also visited the Cook Islands in the South Pacific earlier this year to seek support from local governments at the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF).
