MediaTek responded to plans to invest in British startups: artificial intelligence and IC design technology

MediaTek, a leader in the semiconductor industry, plans to invest in several British innovation and technology companies in the next five years, with a total investment of 10 million pounds (CTOnews.com Note: about 90.3 million yuan), the Prime Minister's Office said. In response, MediaTek responded that the investment was mainly artificial intelligence and IC design technology in the industry.
According to the industry, MediaTek will strengthen its global investment since 2015, set up a strategic investment unit, MediaTek Venture Capital, and reserve US $300 million to invest in startups in Greater China, Europe, Japan and North America, targeting startups in semiconductor systems and equipment, network infrastructure, and service-level Internet of things (IoT).
Currently, MediaTek has offices in Cambridge and Kent, each focusing on research and development. MediaTek's recent investments in the UK include working with smartphone company Bullitt Group to build the world's first smartphone using two-way satellite communication technology, and working with Inmarsat to provide "satellite direct" communications services.
The British Prime Minister's Office also pointed out on the 26th that before this year's summit, key investors from various countries had pledged investment plans of up to 29.5 billion pounds (currently about 266.385 billion yuan), three times as much as the last summit held in 2021.
