To "play tricks", Google opens .meme top-level domain name registration
Thank CTOnews.com netizens soft media users 1520111, baa ocean for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com, November 29, Google Registry issued a press release today, announcing the opening of the registration of a top-level domain named .meme, which has now opened a pre-emptive experience channel.
During the preemptive experience phase, users can be the first to register a .meme top-level domain name, but pay an "additional buyout fee", which decreases over time, and the preemptive experience period (EAP) ends on December 5.
After 16:00 UTC on December 5 (CTOnews.com Note: 0: 00 on December 6, Beijing time), the .meme domain name will be publicly registered at the base annual fee based on the registrar chosen by the user.
Some websites are already accepting .meme domains, including grumpycat.meme,nyancat.meme and keyboardcat.meme, and the meme tracker knowyour.meme has even adopted a new domain name.
Google Registry already has a series of unconventional domain names, such as .dad, .boo, and even the recently released .ing, but .meme is arguably the weirdest of them.
Meme (MEME) is equivalent to "stem". At present, the generally accepted definition is to imitate the thought, behavior or style spread between people, usually to convey the specific phenomenon, theme or meaning represented by memes.
