Altman officially returned to OpenAI as CEO, Microsoft joined the board of directors but did not have the right to vote

CTOnews.com November 30 news, Altman (Sam Altman) officially returned to OpenAI as CEO (CEO).

OpenAI announced that it had reached an agreement in principle and that Altman's return had been completed. Microsoft announced that it would get a non-voting observer seat on the non-profit board that controls OpenAI.

"I am more excited about the future than ever before," Altman said in a memo shared with foreign media the Verge. "I am very grateful to everyone for their hard work under uncertain and unprecedented circumstances, and I believe our resilience and spirit make us stand out in the industry. I am very satisfied with the possibility that we will succeed in achieving our mission."

OpenAI's new board of directors is made up of chairmen Bret Taylor, Larry Summers and Adam D'Angelo because three of the four board members who decided to abruptly fire Altman have left. OpenAI also added Microsoft to the board as a "non-voting observer". Microsoft is the main investor in OpenAI, with 49 per cent of the for-profit entity.

In a memo to employees, Altman said he had "zero malice" against Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI's co-founder and chief scientist. Ilya Sutskever initially participated in the board dismissal, but later asked Altman to return. "although Ilya will no longer serve on the board, we want to continue our working relationship and are discussing how he can continue his work at OpenAI," Mr Altman said.
