CTOnews.com December 2, Microsoft Games CEO Phil Spencer (Phil Spencer) said that efforts are still being made to promote Xbox Play Anywhere services, so that players can play games on more platforms and more devices.

The Xbox Play Anywhere service was originally designed for Xbox One and Win10 systems. Players buy games on either platform, can be used on another platform, and can share game archiving progress. Some games support cross-platform multiplayer games.

Spencer admitted that the Xbox Play Anywhere service had not made much progress, but stressed that the service was a long-term part of Xbox's strategy.

Spencer said in an interview that the team was studying the ability of streaming players to buy games, but did not provide details on when it would be launched.

He said:

We are also studying the significance of streaming PC games and becoming an important part of Xbox for the foreseeable future.

I'm very optimistic about the direction of the cloud, but it doesn't undermine the native runtime experience we want to have on Xbox consoles and Windows PC.

Players want to stream games as well as local games, and we have to build tools for developers to build both at the same time.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Tim Stuart, Xbox's chief financial officer, recently attended the Wells Fargo TMT summit and talked about Microsoft's ultimate goals for Game Pass and other Microsoft services.

Stewart stressed that one of Microsoft's visions is to allow players to play games on any screen. "this means smart TVs, mobile devices, and PlayStation and Nintendo, previously called competitors," he explained. "Let's start with Nvidia's game subscription GeForce Now."
