Sources say SpaceX is considering a new round of internal stock trading, raising its valuation to $175 billion
According to people familiar with the matter, SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, has begun talking about selling internal shares, valuing the company at $175 billion or more at the sale price.
SpaceX is discussing selling internal shares worth between $500m and $750 million at about $95 a share, according to people familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The terms and scale of this internal stock trading may change depending on the interest of internal sellers and buyers.
At a sale price of about $95 a share, the total valuation of $175 billion is higher than the $150 billion valuation SpaceX received when it sold its internal shares this summer.
A representative of SpaceX didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
SpaceX, based in Hawthorne, Calif., dominates the market for commercial space launch services with Falcon rockets. The company helps private companies, NASA and other agencies put payloads into orbit.
SpaceX also operates a chain of space Internet services that includes a series of low-Earth orbiting satellites.
