CTOnews.com, December 9 (Xinhua)-- NASA issued a press release today announcing that the Hubble Space Telescope has "returned to work" and resumed its scientific observation mission.

CTOnews.com previously reported that one of the three gyroscopes assisted by the Hubble Space Telescope returned an erroneous reading on November 19, putting it into safe mode.

When the team found the problem, it quickly took action to fix it. However, the gyroscope was unstable, causing the system to enter safe mode twice on November 21 and November 23.

NASA then announced the suspension of the Hubble Space Telescope's observation mission, and the team returned all three gyroscopes to normal operation again after remote data adjustment.

NASA said the two main cameras, the wide Field of View camera 3 (Wide Field Camera 3) and the Advanced Measurement camera (Advanced Camera for Surveys), resumed scientific observations on Friday.

The team plans to resume operations of the Origin of the Universe Spectrometer (Cosmic Origins Spectrograph) and the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrometer (Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph) later this month.
