CTOnews.com, December 13 (Xinhua) according to the Economic Times of India, the first assembly line at Foxconn's Bangalore plant will be completed in April, when it will begin its iPhone assembly work for the first time. With the successful completion of the project, Foxconn will significantly increase its production in India.

MB Patil, minister of industry and infrastructure development, said the government would continue to do its utmost to ensure that the high-profile project was completed on time and that he would personally supervise it to ensure that no obstacles were encountered. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also stressed that there should be no delay in the approval of this high-profile project.

According to reports, the company will invest 2.7 billion US dollars (CTOnews.com Note: about 19.386 billion yuan) in the construction of factories and related facilities, and the new investment will be used to build assembly lines and workers' dormitories as planned.

Liu Yangwei, Foxconn chairman, said on an investor conference call in August that the group "will actively expand in India". Although he declined to comment on specific products, he pointed to "the improvement of India's overall industry environment", adding that "we believe that India will play a very important role in the future."
