CTOnews.com, December 14 (Xinhua)-- NASA posted a blog post this week that the Voyager 1 probe has suffered another malfunction and is currently unable to communicate with the ground.

CTOnews.com Note: the Voyager 1 probe malfunctioned in May 2022 and was successfully repaired by NASA engineers, but it is not clear whether it can also be repaired this time.

NASA said the communication failure occurred in the Voyager 1 probe's flight data system (FDS), which is responsible for collecting airborne engineering information on the probe and data from various instruments.

In this failure, FDS did not communicate as expected and sent cyclic messages of 1s and zeros.

There are many challenges for engineers to contact the Voyager 1 probe, which is currently 24 billion kilometers (15 billion miles) from Earth, which means it takes 45 hours to complete a round trip.
