Profile of American iPhone users: 47% of Apple's official channel buyers choose the Pro model.
CTOnews.com, December 15 (Xinhua) according to a recent research report shared by market research firm CIRP, 47% of users who bought iPhone directly from Apple's official channels chose the Pro or Pro Max model in the past 12 months as of September 2023.
By comparison, 40% of users buy iPhone Pro or Pro Max models through carrier channels.
At first glance, the difference between the two looks small, only 7%, but based on the price difference of $200 to $300 per iPhone, while Apple sells more than 200 million units a year, the actual difference in terms of amount will be very obvious.
Citing the views of foreign technology media 9to5Mac, CTOnews.com believes that Apple cannot change this advantage, and operators dominate iPhone sales to a large extent in the US market.
According to data previously released by CIRP, only 21% of people buy directly from Apple, while 71% buy from their carriers.
CIRP points out that customers who buy iPhone through carriers no longer pursue top models, and Apple has lost control over "accessories, extended warranty options and access to other devices, including Apple Watch, iPad and Mac computers."
Add all these factors together, and they could cost Apple billions of dollars in potential revenue loss.
