The operating system Conference 2023, with the theme of "the rise of the Digital Age and leading the Future of Digital Intelligence", was held at the Beijing National Convention Center today. The conference is co-sponsored by the Open Atom Open Source Foundation, the China Institute of Electronic Technology Standardization, the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center and the China Software Industry Association, which aims to bring together the innovative forces of the global industry and build a solid foundation for software. Over the past year, Euler has accelerated its development. Up to now, Euler has installed more than 6.1 million units, and according to IDC, Euler's market share in China's server operating system will reach 36.8% in 2023. Four years of open source, Euler has achieved great-leap-forward development, grown into China's first server operating system, and established a sound development system on technological innovation, ecological development, community cooperation and commercial landing, forming a positive industrial cycle. Euler has become the first basic software in China to achieve the first market share, which is an important milestone in the development of China's basic software industry and creates a solid and reliable software base for digital China.

Sun Wenlong, chairman of the Open Atomic Open Source Foundation, said in a speech at the conference that making full use of open source, participating in open source, supporting open source, and giving back to open source is an effective way to achieve operating system technological innovation and industrial prosperity.

OpenEuler open source community adheres to the principle of "co-building, sharing and co-governance" and works together with the whole industry chain to build a sustainable operating system industrial ecology. Since the community opened source, it has attracted 1300 leading enterprises, research institutions and universities to join, bringing together 16800 + open source contributors and setting up 16800 + special interest groups (SIG). The openEuler open source community has become the most dynamic and innovative open source community in China.

Peng Song, senior vice president of Huawei and president of ICT Strategy and Marketing, a member of the openEuler community, said in a speech at the conference that Huawei will continue to focus on root technology investment, enhance the innovation and competitiveness of basic software, support the construction of digital infrastructure and the ecological prosperity of application software, embrace intelligence, promote the integration of operating system and AI, and stimulate basic software innovation. Promote the integration of industry, university and research, train basic software and ICT industry personnel, and provide a continuous driving force for technological innovation.

The leading business practice project of openEuler was announced in 2023, 22 projects signed donation intention

With the large-scale application of Euler in various industries, a large number of excellent innovative practices have emerged, effectively promoting the deepening of the digital transformation of the industry. In order to give full play to the exemplary role of openEuler's leading business practices in the industry, guide more applications in new industries and new fields, and speed up the construction of a prosperous and win-win industrial ecology, the OpenAtom openEuler community joined hands with the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center and industry experts. Based on the five dimensions of technological innovation, demonstration and promotion value, application scale, service operation and maintenance capability and community contribution, we have completed several rounds of selection of the publicly solicited business practice results, and finally selected 15 leading openEuler business practice projects in 2023.

OpenAtom openEuler community, together with China Institute of Electronic Technology Standardization and several industry experts, evaluated the contribution dimensions of technology, governance and ecological construction according to the group standard T / CESA 1270.5-2023, and selected 15 advanced units with outstanding contributions.

The development has been accelerated since the donation of openEuler to the Open Atomic Open Source Foundation. In December 2022, the Open Atomic Open Source Foundation announced that openEuler has been upgraded to a project group, which can operate independently in terms of governance charter, community operation, fund-raising, etc., accept open source projects to join, and use openEuler project group infrastructure, operations, marketing and other resources. In the first half of 2023, nine projects completed the signing of donation intentions, and 13 new projects were signed, mostly for solutions, involving the whole scenario and the whole development process. After donation, new innovative forces will be injected into openEuler from the dimensions of cloud native, AI, intelligence and monitoring.

Embrace the era of intelligence and lead the innovation of intelligence

In the past year, technological innovation represented by large model and big computing power has continuously promoted the development of artificial intelligence, and AI has accelerated its entry into the industry production system, changing the industrial pattern of thousands of industries. In the intelligent era, the operating system needs to evolve towards AI. On the one hand, AI is used in the whole process of operating system development, deployment, operation and maintenance to make the operating system more intelligent; on the other hand, the operating system also needs to adapt to the development requirements of AI, meet the heterogeneous integration of general computing power and AI computing power, and better enable upper AI applications. Euler has supported all the mainstream general computing architectures such as ARM,x86,RISC-V. In the smart era, Euler has also taken the lead in supporting mainstream AI processors such as NVDIA and Teng, which has become the first choice to enable diversity of computing power.

With the deep combination of Euler and AI, on the one hand, using the ChatGLM basic model, based on a large amount of code and data of the Euler operating system, train EulerCopilot, and initially realize the functions of code-aided generation, problem intelligent analysis, system-assisted operation and maintenance, etc., to make Euler more intelligent. On the other hand, Euler realizes the deep integration of CPU and NPU through unified management and scheduling of heterogeneous resources, overall memory and computing power, fully tap free resources, improve effective utilization, and then improve the performance of AI training and reasoning, so that AI can be more efficient.

Wu Hequan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said in his keynote speech that he firmly grasped the general trend of "computing network integration" and believed that with the efforts of tens of thousands of developers and thousands of partners in the openEuler community, openEuler will become a solid base for collaborative digital infrastructure in the whole scene, and will also help China's industrial Internet to achieve great-leap-forward development.

Gather global open source forces to contribute Chinese wisdom to the world open source

Ni Guangnan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said in his keynote speech that Euler's experience has fully proved that as long as Chinese developers work together, they will be able to create a world-class open source community. Call on the industry to join hands to promote open source Euler to become the first open source community with world influence led by the Chinese industry.

Euler is committed to creating an international open source assistance platform. In terms of technology ecology, Euler has supported 98% of the world's mainstream open source software in deep cooperation with international mainstream foundations. As the CI operating system in dozens of open source communities, such as cloud native, big data, storage, database, HPC and so on, Euler has achieved upstream native support and can be used out of the box. Euler is deeply involved in the formulation and promotion of global mainstream software supply chain security standards and specifications such as OpenChain and OpenSSF, taking the lead in passing the OpenChain ISO 5230 open source software protocol certification, and the community infrastructure meets the OpenSSF SLSA L3 standard. In addition, it also works with global mainstream communities and organizations to meet the localization requirements of various regions around the world and standardize the international governance of the Euler open source community. At present, the openEuler community has carried out in-depth cooperation with 9 overseas head open source foundations to provide services to more than 150 countries and regions, build a new global open source ecology, and create a new open source model in China.

Create a new mode of integration of industry and education and accelerate the development of openEuler talents

Talents are the driving force of industrial development, and colleges and universities are the cradle of industrial talents. In July last year, the Open Atomic Foundation officially launched the "Open Atomic School Source Bank" to cultivate open source talents for colleges and universities across the country by subsidizing open source societies, promoting open source courses, and setting up open source grants. As an important project group of the foundation, openEuler has cooperated deeply with many universities, such as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Peking University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Hunan University, Dalian University of Technology, Lanzhou University and so on.
