The United States has launched an investigation into more than 450000 Nissan vehicles due to engine problems.

CTOnews.com, December 16 (Reuters)-the US auto safety regulator said it would investigate about 454840 Nissan vehicles because of reports that engine failure could lead to power loss and inability to restart.

CTOnews.com noted that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the Office of defect investigation (ODI) had conducted a preliminary assessment of Nissan Rogue, Altima and Infiniti QX50 vehicles and had received a total of six complaints about the issue.

ODI said owners reported engine failure, power loss, engine knock noise, metal blocks and wear found in the oil pan on some vehicles equipped with KR15DDT and KR20DDET engines.

Nissan has been seeking to solve the problem of damage to the main bearing and L-connecting rod or stuck engine by changing the manufacturing process several times, regulators said.
