CTOnews.com December 16 news, Thunderbird announced today that its two MiniLED Q8 and U8 have now passed the VESA HDR1400 certification. Thunderbird said that currently there are only 10 series of VESA HDR1400-certified monitors, and Thunderbird already accounts for 20%.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, VESA updated the DisplayHDR standard in 2019 to provide stricter specifications and new DisplayHDR 1400 performance levels.

Officials say the new DisplayHDR 1400 performance level is aimed at professional content creators. Compared with DisplayHDR 1000, DisplayHDR 1400 increases the brightness by 40% and reduces the black level by 2.5 times, thus increasing the contrast range by 350%. Gamut performance requirements have also been improved for the first time, from 90 per cent of DCI-P3-D65 to 95 per cent, with a significant difference compared with 500, 600, 600 and 1000. Another key feature of the new DisplayHDR 1400 series is that it requires 900 nits of brightness for a long full-screen (30-minute) test.

Thunderbird launched its Q8 Mini LED with fish screen in September with a 34-inch 3440mm 1440 resolution, 1600 Nit peak brightness and a debut of 3999 yuan.

The Thunderbird U8 display was launched in October with a 27-inch 4K 160Hz Mini LED with a list price of 4499 yuan and an initial price of 3719 yuan.
