Apple App Store launches a new "related pricing" feature to help developers attract retained subscribers

CTOnews.com, December 17 (Xinhua)-- Apple recently announced the launch of App Store's new "related pricing" (contingent pricing) feature, designed to help developers attract and retain subscribers. This feature allows developers to offer discounted prices to subscribers, provided they are currently subscribing to another subscription service.

An article on the Apple developer's website explained: "the associated pricing function of App Store subscriptions can help you attract and retain subscribers. As long as users currently subscribe to other subscription services, you can offer them a discount subscription price."

One of the highlights of this feature, CTOnews.com notes, is that association pricing can be applied to subscription services from a single developer or from two different developers. Apple explained that a developer can offer discounts to users who subscribe to other developer services to attract new users to subscribe to their own services. For example, Ocean Journal paying customers can subscribe to the Mountain Climber app at a discount of $4.99 a month instead of the original price of $5.99.

Users can find these discount subscriptions within the application, in non-platform marketing channels, and in designated locations of App Store. Apple will assist developers to complete the relevant configuration to ensure that users can seamlessly enjoy the benefits based on "related pricing" and get a smooth purchasing experience.

Apple is currently piloting the new feature, and developers can register to get more details in January.
