LG has developed a transparent antenna that can be embedded in the car windshield, supporting 5G, Wi-Fi and navigation.
CTOnews.com, December 18 (Xinhua)-- LG today announced the development of a transparent antenna for car windshields or skylights, which will be displayed on CES 2024 in partnership with French glass manufacturer Saint-Gobain Sekurit.
According to reports, this "thin film antenna" can be attached to or built in glass, and supports 5G, Wi-Fi and navigation using GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite system).
LG says transparent antennas can be seamlessly integrated into car windshields or skylights. This means that carmakers do not have to make any design concessions for antennas when developing new models.
The thin-film antenna has more than 80 LG patent innovations, including the ability to make antenna patterns transparent and transparent electrode technology. In cooperation with Saint-Gobain Sekurit, LG has developed a method of applying transparent antennas to glass to improve product integrity.
