CTOnews.com LG Display is announcing a new 97-inch OLED EX TV panel that can produce a 5.1 channel effect by vibrating itself without the help of built-in speakers.

The screen uses LG CSO (Cinematic Sound OLED) technology, which vibrates and generates sound through thin film actuators on the back of the panel, allowing the OLED to generate audio directly without the need for additional speakers.

LG Display claims that the 5.1-channel system will provide "cinematic immersion," but at this time we can't confirm how the sound quality will be.

CTOnews.com understands that this isn't the first time LG has applied CSO technology, which appeared on an LG G8 smartphone in 2019, but the final effect is limited, although the situation may improve after three years.

In addition, Sony also launched Bravia AG9 similar vibration panel technology and OLED TV, some evaluation agencies called it "one of the best sound TVs on the market."

LG Display's 97-inch panel uses the same OLED EX technology as LG's latest flagship OLED TV, resulting in brighter, more accurate images.

LG Display claims it is the largest OLED panel ever, although LG Electronics has previously launched a 97-inch OLED TV.

LG Electronics '97-inch OLED should hit stores later this year for about $25000, FlatpanelsHD reports.
