Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 / Flip 4 pre-sold more than previous generation folding screen or S22 series phones in South Korea in the first week.

CTOnews.com August 24 news, Samsung recently released a new Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 folding screen phones, has now broken the Korean pre-sale record. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 outperformed their predecessors and had higher average daily preorders than the Galaxy S22 series.

Reported that between August 16 and 22, South Korea Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 bookings totaled 970000 units. By contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 exceeded 920000 units in their first week on the market.

Previously, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 sales ratio was 7:3, and the pre-orders for the first week of the 2022 folding screen were slightly balanced. Galaxy Z Flip 4 covers 65% of pre-orders, with the remaining 35% of pre-orders for Galaxy Z Fold 4.

On average, Samsung pre-ordered an average of 138000 Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 units per day during its first week in South Korea. By contrast, the 2021 folding-screen phones had an average of 131000 daily bookings last year.

What's more, Samsung's new folding-screen phones also outnumber the Galaxy S22 series in daily pre-orders in South Korea. The Galaxy S22 series received an average of 127000 daily pre-orders in the eight days after launch, lower than the new Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4.

However, only time will tell if Samsung can sustain this momentum and break sales records beyond the end of the pre-order period. As early as June, there were reports that Samsung was considering selling 15 million folding-screen phones in 2022, but it might not be enough to replace the Galaxy S22 series in the long term.

CTOnews.com learned that Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 starts at 12999 yuan and Galaxy Z Flip 4 starts at 7499 yuan. Samsung hopes that more than 50% of Galaxy flagship phones sold in 2025 will be fold-screen devices.
