Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen OC_Formula, soft media user 2040240, South China Daniel Wu for the delivery of clues! CTOnews.com8, March 27 (Xinhua)-- Intel will launch XeSS (Xe Super Sampling) next month to combat the supersampling technology of NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR. Recently, Ryan Shrout, head of marketing for Intel's GPU business, released an article introducing XeSS on Intel ARC's official website.

According to reports, XeSS is Intel's supersampling solution, which aims to make better use of GPU. Specifically, XeSS will render the game at a lower resolution, and then use AI technology to raise the image to a higher resolution, which is similar to or better than the original rendering effect. Finally, XeSS will output the high-resolution picture to the screen.

Intel pointed out that XeSS has four preset modes for players to choose from, namely, super quality, quality, balance, and performance. According to the results of the UL benchmark, the frame rate of performance mode is 2.5 times that of the original image quality, the frame rate of balanced mode is 2.1times that of the original picture quality, the frame rate of the quality mode is 1.8times that of the original picture quality, and the frame rate of the super quality mode is 1.5 times that of the original picture quality.

At the same time, Intel showed the actual demonstration effect. In two PC with Arc A770 graphics cards, run Tomb Raider: shadow with 1440p Max with ray tracing enabled, one of which turns on the balanced mode XeSS and the other does not enable the XeSS function. The results show that the PC with balanced mode XeSS can keep the game frame rate up to 60-80 FPS, while the PC without XeSS function is difficult to reach 60 frames, which is basically maintained at about 40 frames.

Intel also unveiled more than 20 games that support XeSS, including call of Duty: modern Warfare II, Tomb Raider: shadow, eternity, Killer 3 and death stranded.

CTOnews.com learned that XeSS technology uses the XMX engine in Xe GPU to achieve matrix acceleration to maximize rendering efficiency. Compared with traditional TAA, XeSS technology can bring higher frame rate and smoother game screen.
