CTOnews.com August 28, Rivian R1T has been launched for several months, but its brother model, the R1S, has only just begun to be delivered to outside customers.

The R1S has a third row of seats and a closed rear design, but its length and wheelbase are shorter than those of the R1T electric truck. The first R1S was delivered to its own CEO RJ Scaringe and CFO Claire McDonough last December.

In June, Rivian said that R1S customer delivery could start as early as August, so they are punctual from this point of view, although Rivian was originally scheduled to deliver around March to April.

Now, the SUV is finally on the road, or several are already on the road. It is said that this is the first batch of non-employee delivery orders to date.

One of the cars is owned by Kyle Shultz of the Rivian Stories show. It is said that it has been nearly three years since he first ordered it in November 2018, when the R1S was first launched.

Although Shultz is not a Rivian employee, he has always been an insider in the Rivian community, so this can be seen as "VIP" delivery among customers to some extent.

In addition, Skyler, another host of Rivian Stories, also got his R1S on the same day, both of which were made at the Rivian factory in Normal, Illinois.
