More than a year after its launch, the number of paid subscribers to Apple Podcasts podcasts has increased by more than 300%.
CTOnews.com, Aug. 30, an Apple spokesman talked to Digiday today about the new Dateline subscription podcast product, revealing that Podcasts podcasts have grown significantly in more than a year, with the number of paid subscribers growing by more than 300% since its launch in June 2021.
More than 25 per cent of Top Shows's top 100 shows offer a paid option more than a year after the launch of Podcasts Podcast subscriptions, according to an Apple spokesman.
CTOnews.com learned that Apple launched Podcasts paid subscriptions in June 2021, a feature designed to allow users to unlock things such as going to ads, accessing other content, and early or exclusive access to new podcasts.
Apple takes 15% to 30% of its Podcasts subscriptions, similar to the way App Store subscriptions operate. Apple takes a 30% commission in the first year of subscriptions and 15% in each year after that.
Apple's latest subscription service, from Dateline, introduces an ad-free listening experience, access to shows a week in advance, and monthly rewards in nine podcasts and shows. The subscription price is $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year.
