Amazon releases technical report on Prime Day promotion day: peak processing 70 million pieces of data per second

Amazon Prime Day event ended, Amazon Cloud Technology released key technical support data. Among them, Amazon Aurora handles 288 billion transactions, Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS) processes 7050 million messages per second during peak hours, Amazon DynamoDB calls reach trillions of times and requests peak at 1.052 billion requests per second.

It is worth noting that Amazon Robotics Pick Time Estimator uses Amazon SageMaker to train machine learning models to predict the time required for future picking operations, and more than 100 million transactions were processed during Prime Day. Thanks to the adoption of more Amazon Graviton 2 processor-based instances, the total number of elastic computing service Amazon EC2 standardized instances has increased by 12%, and the overall server energy efficiency has increased by only 7% compared with Black 5 in 2021.

In terms of package planning, on the day with the highest Prime Day traffic in North America, the package planning system performed 6000 Amazon Lambda serverless service calls, processed 17TB compressed data at Amazon S3, stored 64 million entries for Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon ElastiCache, and handled 200 million events and 50 million Amazon SQS events for Amazon Kinesis.
