After the increase in investment, the factory will also need more staff. Toyota said on its website that the increased investment would add 350 jobs and increase the number of employees needed when the plant is completed to 2100.

Toyota also mentioned on its website that its battery plant in North Carolina, which plans to start operating in 2025, will produce batteries for hybrid and all-electric vehicles.

Toyota also revealed on its website that the $3.8 billion investment in the North Carolina battery plant was part of an electrification effort of about $70 billion announced last year, with a planned maximum investment of $5.6 billion in batteries.
