Five years ago today: Apple released iPhone X with Face ID bangs full-face screen
CTOnews.com Sept. 13, today marks the fifth anniversary of Apple's launch of the iPhone X at the Steve Jobs Theater's first media event.
Apple iPhone X has introduced a new design that replaces Touch ID and Home physical buttons with Face ID and sliding navigation. CTOnews.com learned that it was the first iPhone with an OLED display, bangs grooves, thinner frames, polished stainless steel frames and animated emoticons known as Animoji. In addition to the iPhone 8century iPhone X, there is also wireless charging support and a neural engine for machine learning.
"for more than a decade, our goal has been to create an iPhone with a full screen display," Jony Ive, a former Apple design director, said in a September 2017 press release. "iPhone X has realized this vision."
"iPhone X is the future of smartphones," added Phil Schiller, Apple's former head of marketing.
Before Phil Schiller came onstage to discuss the new features of the device, Apple CEO Tim Cook talked about the special significance of iPhone X.
As the first event at the Steve Jobs Theater, Apple opened its speech with a touching tribute to Steve Jobs, who died in 2011.
Apple said the iPhone X represented "the beginning of the next decade of iPhone". Although the bangs grooves on the iPhone 14 Pro have been replaced by the "pill + punch" smart island design, the overall design of the iPhone X and Face ID still exists. And iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus use smaller bangs grooves.
