It is reported that Apple's iPhone 14 / Pro series satellite communication functions will be extended to more countries.

CTOnews.com, Sept. 15-all four iPhone 14 models include the new satellite communications emergency SOS feature, which will be launched in the United States and Canada in November, and a new report today said that Apple plans to expand this feature to other countries over time.

Apple reportedly informed the Swiss website MacPrime that it plans to launch satellite emergency SOS services in more countries later this year, including next year, but it is not clear when the feature will actually be launched in other countries.

The Satellite Emergency SOS is designed to connect iPhone 14 series models directly to satellites, allowing users to send emergency service text messages outside cellular network and Wi-Fi coverage. When the feature was launched in the United States and Canada, Apple said the service would be free for the first two years.

CTOnews.com learned that emergency messages sent through communications satellites, such as the American version of the iPhone 14 series, support long-rumored emergency messages, called emergency SOS. When the user is not within the range of the mobile phone signal, the antenna of the mobile phone can be connected to satellite communication. Through the custom short text compression algorithm, the size of the message can be reduced by 3 times. When the sky is clear, the time to send a message is less than 15 seconds, and satellite location sharing is supported. In the field of field scenes, emergency rescue and other fields, satellite communication functions can play specific functions. You can also use the "Find My" application to share locations without sending messages.
