CTOnews.com September 18 news, TSMC promoted the construction of "TSMC Nanke Reclaimed Water Plant" will be officially opened on the 19th, this is Taiwan Province's first private reclaimed water plant, but also represents the world's first industrial reclaimed water for semiconductor production. According to reports, the reclaimed water replacement rate of Taiwan plant in 2030 is expected to reach the target of 60%.

According to reports, TSMC Nanke Reclaimed Water Plant is expected to supply 20,000 tons of water per day in 2023, and it is expected that TSMC Nanke Plant will use 67,000 tons of reclaimed water per day in 2024.

CTOnews.com inquired that the technical and quality control of industrial wastewater regeneration is difficult. TSMC has been developing reclaimed water technology since 2015, and in 2016, it built a semiconductor industrial reclaimed water trial production line to recycle and treat industrial effluent water.

It is worth mentioning that TSMC Nanke Reclaimed Water Plant originally planned to start water supply in 2021. Due to the delay of reclaimed water transmission project and the commissioning time of the water plant for half a year, the effluent quality has been stabilized.

In addition, TSMC will continue to actively cooperate to promote the previously announced reclaimed water plan, with the goal of achieving a 60% replacement rate of reclaimed water in Taiwan by 2030.
