CTOnews.com Sept. 25, after the release of Google Chromecast TV stick with Google TV (HD), Google confirmed to foreign media 9to5Google that the old Chromecast with Google TV (4K) will be updated to Android 12 in the near future.

The Chromecast TV stick with Google TV was first launched in October 2020 and has received only a few updates since then, such as security patches and bug fixes, as well as App-based updates that provide features such as user profiles.

Chromecast only comes with the storage space of 8GB, so it is troublesome to update the system or the application. A Google spokesman said it would make storage improvements to Google TV, but did not elaborate further.

CTOnews.com learned that Android 12 brings camera / microphone privacy indicators and shielding, 4K UI support and other minor tweaks to Google TV.
