A total of 12 to 14 preparatory astronauts were selected, including 7 to 8 space pilots, 5 to 6 space flight engineers and load experts, including about 2 load experts. Space pilots are selected from the active service pilots of the army, navy and air force, and space flight engineers are selected from scientific research and engineering technicians who specialize in aerospace engineering and related fields. Load experts are selected among researchers engaged in space science research and application-related fields.
The selection of preparatory astronauts, uniformly organized and implemented by the China manned Space Engineering Office, is expected to be completed in about a year and a half, and load experts are selected in Hong Kong and Macao for the first time.
