Previously, you used the screenshot tool when using the shortcut key Win+Shift+S and capturing a clip image. It will be automatically copied to the clipboard, and users will paste it into a drawing or other image editor, or you can open the clipping tool to mark and share. However, the tool has been lack of automatic save function.

At the request of users, Microsoft has now added the ability to automatically save screenshots to the screenshot tool in Windows 11 Build 25211.

After installing this version, users need to open the Microsoft Store and update Snipping Tool. The version of Snipping Tool with automatic screenshot saving function is 11.2209.2.0.

CTOnews.com learned that when you use Win+Shift+S keyboard shortcuts, options appear on it and you can draw and select an area of the screen. When you are finished, you will be notified, and the screenshot will be copied to the clipboard and saved. Users can find saved clippings in the screenshots folder in my Pictures.

How to disable the Snipping Tool automatic screenshot saving feature.

Press Win to open "start"

Enter snip to open the Snipping Tool screenshot tool

Click the three-point icon and select Settings

Switch the Auto Save Screenshot setting switch to off to disable this feature.

Note: this feature is enabled by default.

It may take a while for this feature to be released to a stable Windows 11 version. At the same time, when users use Win + Print Screen shortcuts, they can save screenshots directly and permanently to the screenshots folder.
