CTOnews.com, Oct. 3-Apple is developing a Mac Pro with a M2 Extreme chip, which will be previewed later this year and will be launched in early 2023, according to Bloomberg Mark Gurman.

In addition, Gurman said Apple will launch a new Mac mini with M2 and M2 Pro chips, a new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max, and the new chip specifications are still unknown.

Foreign media Macworld revealed that the upgrade of Apple's M2 series may be similar to the integration of M1 series, as shown below:

M2RO 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, up to 24GB unified memory

M2 Pro (expected): up to 10-core CPU, up to 20-core GPU, up to 48GB unified memory

M2 Max (expected): up to 10-core CPU, 40-core GPU, up to 96GB unified memory

M2 Ultra (expected): 24-core CPU,80 core GPU, maximum 192GB unified memory

M2 Extreme (expected): 48-core CPU,160 core GPU core, maximum 384GB unified memory

The ▲ Apple M1 series CTOnews.com learned that this is different from what Bloomberg previously revealed, which said Apple had developed a 40-core chip for the upcoming Mac Pro:

The redesigned Mac Pro, codenamed Jade 2C-Die and Jade 4C-Die, is planned to provide 20 or 40 CPU cores, consisting of 16 or 32 high-performance cores and 4 or 8 efficient cores. These chips will also include 64-core or 128-core GPU. The number of computing cores exceeds the 28 cores offered by Intel's Mac Pro chips today, and the higher-end GPU will replace GPU, which is now made by AMD.

However, whether it's 40 or 48 cores, the M2 Extreme is probably designed for Apple's super-powerful Mac Pro, and the long-awaited machine is expected to be released next year, so we'll see.
